PAN Card (Permanent Account Number) as per Income Tax India
is a ten digit number that is mandatory to file Income Tax return as per Indian Income Tax Act. The structure of 10 digits includes first 5 alphabets, next 4 numeric and last 1 alphabet. Always specify a correct permanent account number while filing income tax return (ITR). Since, a single digit error may result into penalty / delay in processing return and tax refunds.
One person can hold only One PAN
As per Income Tax act 1961, a person can hold only one PAN, holding two or more PANs is illegal. So if you have ever applied for a PAN, it’s better to know your previous PAN application Status before making a new/fresh PAN application.

Apply for New PAN Card – Permanent Account Number:
Applicant want to apply for a new PAN and who have never applied for PAN earlier, can use this form.
• Download PAN application form – Form 49A, Read the instructions carefully, Fill the Form with black ball pen
• Attached required proof documents, Sign the form
• Submit the form at TIN Facilitation Centers approved by NSDL
• Kindly note, the name in proof of identity and proof of address must be exactly same with the name in the application.
